Some weeks ago we visited an art workshop by the name of Totem. We exchanged information and became allies with them in the hopes of emancipating all Art Brut artists.
To learn more about “TOTEM” visit @atelier_totem on Instagram.
After searching for talent on Instagram we came across the works of Sam Luff, several days ago he joined our collective. We are very excited about promoting his work, especially the quality and the professionalism with which he creates. Unparalled style yet definitely Art Brut.
Check out his profile on our page where you can get to know him!
I’ve been slacking as a web admin but here’s our latest member! A personal friend of our curator and gifted artist, she is the latest addition to our humble collective where we aim to make art. Malakee is especially gifted and excels in both writing and digital art. Her personal “Modder & Zwanen” website is a gem and a work of art in and of itself.

The work of the Chinese-Canadian artist Matthew Wong (1984-2019) is dynamic, colourful and expressive. Of the many artists who inspired him, Vincent van Gogh was the most significant. This exhibition invites you to discover more about Wong’s work and his artistic connection with Van Gogh.

Angels are surprisingly common in our culture, in songs, literature and in art.
All types of angels are depicted in art – guardian, fallen, avenging, messengers etc. They are depicted in sculpture and paint in every size imaginable – from tiny painted angels in the pages of medieval books of hours to the huge looming modern sculpture The Angel of the North.
The first winged Christian angel dates from the 4th century. Winged creatures and gods such as Pegasus, Eros and of course Nike may have inspired the winged angel.

The use of artistic methods to treat psychological disorders and enhance mental health is known as art therapy. Art therapy is a technique rooted in the idea that creative expression can foster healing and mental well-being.1
Van Lith T. Art therapy in mental health: A systematic review of approaches and practices. The Arts in Psychotherapy. 2016;47:9-22. doi:10.1016/j.aip.2015.09.003
People have been relying on the arts for communication, self-expression, and healing for thousands of years. But art therapy didn’t start to become a formal program until the 1940s.2
Doctors noted that individuals living with mental illness often expressed themselves in drawings and other artworks, which led many to explore the use of art as a healing strategy.3 Since then, art has become an important part of the therapeutic field and is used in some assessment and treatment techniques.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 (General Assembly resolution 217 A) as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected and it has been translated into over 500 languages. The UDHR is widely recognized as having inspired, and paved the way for, the adoption of more than seventy human rights treaties, applied today on a permanent basis at global and regional levels (all containing references to it in their preambles).
